Golfing in warmer weather.

As the colder weather sets in, you may be dreaming of a winter escape to somewhere a little warmer, where you can bask in the sun and play a few rounds of golf. Perhaps you’ll hit the spa and go to the beach, too. Here are a few suggestions for a winter getaway this year.

Torrey Pines Golf Course - La Jolla, California

www.torreypinesgolfcourse.com

A beautiful course just outside San Diego, California. You’ll be guaranteed beautiful, sunny weather year-round. The course is right near the ocean, so you’ll be able to enjoy the ocean breezes while you play.

Streamsong Resort - Streamsong, Florida

There are not one, but two 18-hole courses at Streamsong, both designed by some of the most famous names in golf course creation. (Coore & Crenshaw, Doak) Located on a former phosphate mine, the landscape undulates with character as you walk the course.

The Boulders Golf Club, Carefree, Arizona

www.bouldersclub.com

Located near Scottsdale, Arizona, The Boulders is the place to go for a nice dry heat in the desert. Unbearable in the summer, in wintertime it is pleasant and refreshing. There are two championship 18-hole courses to choose from, and an array of other options. A spa, tennis, several pools, and seven restaurants will keep you relaxed and well-fed.

Port Royal Golf Course, Southampton, Bermuda

www.portroyalgolfcourse.com

Did you know that Bermuda is only a few hours’ flight from NYC, Boston, Charlotte, and Miami? It’s a little island in the Atlantic, but, there are some excellent golf courses there, and during the winter season you may be able to find some good deals.

Bermuda has several championship courses, but Port Royal is by far the best of the best. The views are stunning and the course is challenging, but also a good fit for an amateur player. The website does not do this one justice; you have to see it to believe it.

The Ritz Carlton, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands

Ritz Carlton Golf

For something just a hop away from Florida, why not head further south to the Cayman Islands? It is warm year-round, and the beaches are incredible. A game of golf at the Ritz Carlton, while only nine holes, will be enough in the heat. Then it’s time to relax at the bar with a nice, cold drink and take in the scenery. There are several golf courses on the island, so it’s easy to try them all during your stay.

Hopefully that’s given you some food for thought, as you dream about a winter golf adventure. Bon voyage!

Cheers,
